They eventually perform their first gig at Callbacks, which Blaine fails to attend. The only audience member turns out to be the uncle of a scout, who has booked them a second gig at a popular nightclub.
- Kurt gets a tattoo and a tongue piercing. Unknown to Kurt, Rachel actually got a tattoo, which spells "Finn".
- Jake and Marley's relationship falls apart. After finding out that Jake had sex with Bree, Marley breaks up with Jake. Jake eventually attempts to apologize to Marley for cheating on her, but Marley rejects him. Ryder then attempts to have a relationship with Marley, but Marley claims that she needs time to recover from her break-up with Jake and is not ready for a new relationship.
- Sam and Penny are officially going out. Sam also finds out that they both are Katy Perry fans.
- College: Blaine successfully auditions for NYADA. Becky finally gets to college, with Sue's approval, after Artie takes her on a tour of the University of Cincinnati, which has a program for students with special needs.
- After a disastrous interview for a scholarship, Sam decides to pursue his dream of becoming a male model. A prestigious modeling agent, Bichette (Tyra Banks), offers to add Sam to her modeling roster, as long as he loses 10 pounds. After attempting to do so, Rachel, Blaine, Kurt and Santana talk him out of it and, through a performance of Billy Joel's "Just the Way You Are", convince Sam to scout other modeling agencies.
- Sue finally gets the position of full time Principle, with the help of Unique. Prior to getting the position, she revealed the origins of her famous tracksuits, and also reached a deal with Will. The deal gave Unique her own key to the faculty bathroom in return for the cancellation of the twerking assignment and twerking at Nationals
- Puppets: During the time will was caught up with the school board's upcoming inspection of McKinley High, he gave the New Directions instructions to brainstorm ideas for Nationals while he is unavailable. Blaine makes several suggestions that highlight him, and everyone except Jake reject his ideas and accuse him of being controlling. Blain then calls Kurt, who warns him not to force the other to agree with his ideas and become a puppet master. Blaine makes a puppet of Kurt in crafts class at first, which Sue confiscates. In the end, Blaine crafts puppets of all the New Directions and Pamela Lansbury, which they use to simultaneously sing "The Fox".
- Hallucinations: In "Puppet Master", Blaine, Jake, and Sue each hallucinated when each sat in the back corner of the choir room at different times in the episode due to a gas leak in that exact corner, which Sue eventually repairs.
Next weeks episode, "Previously Unaired Christmas", is the fall finale of Glee season 5. This episode is supposedly the Christmas special that was unaired in 2012.
